There are two important decisions that I have made in my life. The first one is to receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior. The second one is to marry your father.
When I look back over my shoulders, it is these two decisions that have impacted my life in such ways that I can no longer imagine what my life would be had I not made them. I stand here today, strong, proud, grateful, empowered and believing that I am fully enabled by His strength. I am crushed by His goodness every day.
I didn’t grow up knowing or feeling any of this. I didn’t grow up giving my faith a portion of who I am. I used to think that the miracles I’ve heard of were reserved for other people and that the love He generously gives, the one that I’ve often heard about, was not for me.
I was wrong. Your father helped me prove that.
Your Papa, he led me closer to God. He helped me to learn and experience God’s love in my life, and he played a big part in how I view my world today. I have lived every day experiencing God’s good grace ever since.
One day, the time will come when you have to make big decisions for your own life. I pray that you will choose Jesus first. I pray that you will get to know Him and build an intimate relationship with Him because you know that every good in your life comes and always will come from Him alone.
I believe that in your journey, you will meet men and discover that they offer love wrapped in a spectrum of feelings – passionate, rocky, intense, warm, kind, nurturing, and you will want to take it all for no reasons other than “it just feels so good”. But in the midst of every love you may experience, I pray that you will always be able to identify His love – His steady and unchanging love – that He gives generously for you and that you will never be swayed away from it. Instead, I pray that with the love you choose to experience, you will find yourself drawing closer to him, even just to feel His hand upon your life, because the love that this one man offers, makes you want to do just that.
Choose Him first, my girl. And then choose the one that brings you closer to Him.
